Here is what we are doing today.

Awhile ago I ordered these savings bank from Crown Financial Ministries. They are so cool. There is a compartment for giving, savings and one for spending. I love it because it gives them such an excellent sense of how their money should be divided. They were happy about giving 10% to God and then I explained that 50% was to save for whatever big thing they wanted and the last 40% was money that they could spend on anything they wanted (like gum). Now I need to come up with a schedule of paid chores they can do. I am not going to pay them for cleaning their room because I feel they should do that because they are part of the family. But there are other things like washing windows, putting dishes away, organizing the bookshelves/entertainment center that I have decided I will pay them for.

Oh, cool! They've changed them! We ordered one through them a few years ago, and it was just a blue plastic see-through bank, also divided into three sections. The three sections looked like a store, church and bank. :) It was cute, but the stickers were pulled off by a toddler (can't remember which one) and I have no idea where it is now!

Hey, how's Macy's arm?

That is awesome you are teaching these principles to your children!

You mentioned in your post about paying them for chores, here are a few articles from the Crown website that I hope can help:

May God bless you on your journey!

Those are cute! I have been wanting to do the same thing for my kids but haven't found any three-sectioned banks that I really like, so we were going to attempt to make our own(just haven't made the time to do it yet!). I remember having one growing up.

I don't think these come around very often.

That's a great idea! My parents did the exact same thing with my brother and I growing up!
